Launch of Melbourne Hall Garden book by photographer Andrea Jones and author Jodie Jones
The Garden Museum, London - 7 pm 30 September 2025 to be chaired by George Plumptre

Discover one of England’s most admired historic gardens in this special evening event dedicated to the story of Melbourne Hall Garden.

Join us for the launch of the new title Melbourne Hall Garden, with photographer Andrea Jones, author Jodie Jones and chaired by George Plumptre.

Famed for its sweeping yew tunnel and Robert Bakewell’s extraordinary wrought-iron arbour – the celebrated ‘Birdcage’ that made his name – Melbourne Hall’s garden has changed little since the early 18th century. Yet in the 20th century, it underwent extensive restoration, and under the care of Lord and Lady Ralph Kerr it continues to flourish. Unusual specimen trees, shrubs, and herbaceous borders have been introduced, bringing fresh botanical interest to this classical landscape.

This talk will explore Melbourne Hall Garden’s layered history and celebrate its ongoing evolution. Join us for an evening of history, horticulture, and artistry in one of England’s great gardens.

'Focus on Trees' Weekend Photography Workshop with Andrea at West Dean College, West Sussex, England - 21 to 23 November 2025

After last year's successful event,  Andrea will once again be hosting a weekend photography workshop at West Dean College within their celebrated gardens and arboretum.

You don't need to be an experienced photograher,  bring any camera device, even a smart phone if you prefer. Just come and enjoy wondering with Andrea at these remarkable statuesque forms of nature and all their fascinating detail.

Depending on the weather,  the group may take advantage of the ‘golden hour’ by venturing out for a pre-breakfast photography session to capture first light and any morning mist.

In case of rain there will be a covered area to work in and make creative arrangements using either natural or artifiial light

After the practical sessions there will be an opportunity for image feedback, when you will be invited to share a selection of your new images with the group and learn from Andrea’s editorial photographic experience in the publishing world.

Kew's incomparably experienced tree man. Serious gardeners will come back to it again and again'.

The group will be looking creatively at composition, use of  light, observation of pattern and capturing colour.

The aim of the course will be for students to capture images in a way not previously explored and to come away with photographs and ideas for images that may not have been achieved previously.

The group will be looking creatively at composition, use of  light, observation of pattern and capturing colour.

The aim of the course will be for students to capture images in a way not previously explored and to come away with photographs and ideas for images that may not have been achieved previously.
