Autumn Digital Photography Workshop 2009 "Just a quick note to say thanks ever so much for a very enjoyable workshop at the weekend. I thought it was extremely well structured: a perfect combination of creating images and then working on them afterwards." Sheila Sim
"Thank you for a lovely and inspiring weekend. The balance between the time we spent on photography and the photoshop sessions was good. It felt less rushed than in the spring and it was great to have more time to focus on the photography. Doing a 'recce' on Friday, and then sticking to the plan on what to shoot the following day, was a useful lesson. The illustrated talk about about the Great Gardens of America gave many useful tips on how to approach and shoot different situations, as well as giving an insight what it's like to work as a professional photographer. Spring Digital Photography Workshop 2009
24/25/26 April 2009 - Barr, Ayrshire and Logan Botanic Gardens
"Another excellent weekend workshop with Andrea Jones. This time it was based at Andrea's home in Ayrshire. Andrea made sure there was no slacking as we had to be up early to catch the morning light. Most of Saturday was spent photographing at two splendid gardens near Stranraer. The first was Castle Kennedy gardens from which we moved on to Logan Botanical gardens. On Sunday morning we went on a walk up the nearby hills to photograph the beautiful wildflowers and then in the afternoon we had a review of everyone's work.I have set up a gallery page to show some examples of the pictures I took. Thanks to Andrea, Alasdair, Graeme and Stuart for their support and encouragement. A brilliant weekend! " Julia Stanley (Student)
Andrea hosted a workshop with one of the UK's foremost digital imaging specialists, Graeme Cookson. Stuart Culley, from Robert White Photographic, was at hand to advise students how they can get the best from their camera equipment.
The course visited the gardens of nearby Castle Kennedy and the exotic Logan Botanic Gardens, as well as the surrounding photogenic Scottish countryside. Andrea helped students improve their photography of plants in close up and in garden/landscape settings. Graeme taught techniques to get the very best images out of those captured using Adobe Photoshop. The course was aimed at those with some experience of digital photography, basic computer skills and at least a basic knowledge of using Adobe Photoshop.
